ILNP - Cutie Pop

Hey Ladies!

Today i have possibly my favourite polish EVER to show you! This has become my go to polish recently, i'll tell you why below!

Cutie Pop ILNP I love nail polish us boutique lacquer coral pink
Cutie Pop in the shade

Cutie Pop ILNP I love nail polish us boutique lacquer coral pink
Cutie Pop in the Sun
Colour:

Cutie Pop is a light pink polish with a slight coral shimmer to it, i think thats what makes it quite unique. Its also a medium strength linear holographic polish.

Application/Consistency/Brush:

Application of Cutie Pop is always quick and easy for me, the colour is very forgiving if you make a mistake, the brush which is quite wide allows you to apply the polish very neatly in just a few strokes. Its a bit on the thick side but not the gloopy kind it still flows very nicely and due to its thickness opacity is easily built up, my nails were opaque in 2 coats but i always like to do 3 nowadays just because of personal preference.

Dry time:

I think one of the main reasons why this has become my go to polish is because it dries very quickly without a quick dry topcoat, 10-15 minutes and my nails were completely dry. But to make Cutie Pop really pop i would recommend using a topcoat! It really brings out the holo.

Where to buy:

You can buy Cutie Pop direct from ILNP for 10 dollars + shipping (and possible custom charges, but don't hold me to that!) I got mine from a nail polish selling group on Facebook though so if you'd like to be added to any just contact me! :)

Thank you for reading and I *should* have my review of my Birchbox up tomorrow night or Saturday night!

Take care :)

Picture Polish - Freya's Cats

Evening ladies! :)

Today i have the gorgeous Freya's Cats by Picture Polish to show you! This is honestly the best dark blue i own, its my perfect dark Summer blue.

Freya's Cats picture polish nail polish varnish glitter blue dark
3 coats of Freya's Cats
Colour:

Freya's Cats is a dark blue jelly with a slightly holographic shimmer running throughout it. (To me its the Dark Blue version of Shocked!) Even though it has what looks like reflective particles in it, this is a smooth polish. I love how squishy Freya's Cants is even though there aren't any large glitters to give it depth, its quite a classy blue, simple yet stunning. Its definitely an in-your-face blue but, i'm not going to complain about that ;)

Application/Consistency/Brush:

Application of Freya's Cats was pretty much flawless, with it being a dark colour i was determined to apply it neatly so i didn't have to do any clean up as i know dark colours can be annoying to remove from around the cuticles with a brush and acetone! However, i did mess up on my middle finger a little! -sad face- When it came to cleaning that up i did dread doing it but to my surprise it actually came off quite easily and only left the tiniest blue stain. (I say stain - this polish doesn't actually stain your nails) The consistency is perfect, its really easy to work with and opacity is quickly built with just 2 coats (i did three as i knocked one finger... you know whats its like!) I also love the shape of Picture Polishes brushes, they're just perfect at depositing the right amount of polish into the right place.

Dry time before able to apply topcoat:

I'm always really impressed by Picture Polishes dry time! This took literally 20 minutes to dry, completely! I seem to be really good at losing my top coat at the moment.. i eventually found it and then applied it so pictures are with top coat.

Where to buy:

You can purchase Freya's Cats for £11.50 from Rainbow Connection
I think the price is reasonable for such a gorgeous polish that isn't really available by any mainstream brands in the UK and to be honest, i think even if it was, it wouldn't be half as good as Picture Polish.

I like the fact it doesn't look much different in the shade than in the sun too! It seems like in the shade the little particles are more white than holographic but it doesn't affect the overall appearance as you can see above.

Anyway, hope you've enjoyed reading my review of Freya's Cats :)

Dance Legend - Sulley

Hello Lovelies!

*Warning - Post is a bit picture heavy..*

Todays polish is the absolutely stunning Sulley (Thats how its spelt on the bottle!) by Dance Legend! Seriously, i was wearing it and for the first time ever my brother noticed my polish and said "Thats some freaky arse varnish!" translation: 'Wow that polish looks amazing :o' we then had a conversation about all the different colours we could see... LOL. I actually haven't seen any photos that truly show just how stunning this polish is... and mine don't even do it either, you just need to see it in real life to appreciate its true beauty. Sulley genuinely made me miss our swimming pool; which would have been perfect for taking under water pictures!!

3 Coats of Sulley
Outside - Direct Sunlight

Colour:

Sulley is a multichrome 'Chameleon' polish. It changes between Blue, Purple, Orange, Green and Yellow depending on which way you have your nails facing. It also has a beautiful slightly holographic shimmer to it. I think its important for me to point out that this is the strongest multichrome polish i own, its a lot stronger than Aurora and its stronger than Borealis by Picture Polish (I owned that for all of one day haha) Its also stronger than ILNP Birefringence (H).

Application/Consistency/Brush:

Outside - Direct Sunlight
zWhen you apply the first coat of this polish it feels like its going to take tonnes of coats to build it up to an acceptable opacity, it worried me! But i applied the first coat, left it a few minutes then applied the second and the second coat really surprised me, it was opaque over about 95% of the nail. As it was a bit translucent still i had to do a third but i honestly expected it to be a 4/5 coater polish going by the first coat! The brush is lovely, it has long bristles so its nice to control and it picks up a good amount of product. As for the consistency, its one of those thin but thick at the same time polishes.. as it doesn't take much to get to full opacity but it is really thin, you know what i mean ;)

Dry time:

I found Sulley dried really quickly on me. Within about 15 minutes my nails were completely dry, i applied top coat after.

One thing i do want to point out is that, i've only been wearing it for about 36 hours and my little nail is already chipped :(

Where to buy:

You can purchase this from Rainbow Connection, its restocked every once in a while so be sure to grab it as quick as you can when its available!

I wish i had some time to do some galaxy nail art over these but i really don't at the moment! Once i've opened my new store i should be able to get back to doing nail art :')

Thank you for reading and i hope i've convinced you to hunt down this beauty and grab it with both hands!

Kleancolor - Chunky holo bluebell

Ohhhh gosh, I have a stunner to show you today, it's a polish I've loosely been keeping an eye out for and I eventually spotted it the other day on a Facebook nail sale group! The best thing is it only cost me £1!

Chunky holo bluebell is a holographic glitter topper like nothing I've ever seen before! Depending on which way you look at it the glitter shows up either orange, green or yellow. I think its best applied over a dark base; it really shows up the transition between the colours well.

I painted my nails black and then applied two coats of Chunky Holo Bluebell over the top.

Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell Glitter topper holographic
Chunky Holo Bluebell - two coats over black

Application/Consistency/Brush:
Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell Glitter topper holographic
Application of this polish was very easy, obviously as the glitter is small there isn't any need to fish for it (haha) The ratio of glitter to base isn't amazing, thats why i did two coats, one coat just wasn't enough! Its quite a runny polish but thats actually a good thing in this case, you never want glitter toppers to be thick as they can be a disaster to apply. The brush is quite wide so it doesn't take much effort to apply this. I just want to mention the smell... it isn't that pleasant to be honest, but when it comes out looking this pretty, who cares?!

Dry time:

Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell Glitter topper holographicI didn't top coat these for at least half an hour after i did them as i kind of forgot and went straight into taking photos so the photos are without top coat too, to me my nails look quite shiny and glossy! I found the polish to dry completely within 10-15 minutes which i think is quite good/standard.

Where to buy:

If you're in the UK i think this polish might be a bit hard to get your hands on? I suggest keeping an eye out on Nail Sale groups (If any of you want to be added to some, just leave a comment below! And i'll help you out.) However if you live in the USA i think it *might* be a little bit easier to get your hands on. Don't hold me to that though!

Anyway, sorry i've been so quiet this week - been trying to get stock made up for my new store! I do however have a few posts already written up ready for the next few days, including my skin care routine one!

Thank you for reading <3

P.s i have no idea whats going on with my header at the moment! Its supposed to be white fading to pink.. i edited it to take off 'creator of Chubby Owl Polish'. Its white in the programme i made it on.. still figuring it out!

Maybelline Bleached Neons - Chic Chartreuse

Hey ladies!!

So as promised today i'm showing you the bleached neon polish i picked up the other day by Maybelline..

This one is the green neon, its definitely the brightest green i own - definitely not a pastel either. (Truer colour is the second photo)

maybelline bleached neons chit chartreuse green
4 coats in the shade
Application/Consistency/Brush:

First lets talk about how many coats it took to get this polish opaque - 4. Thats how many it took... my usual is 3, so i was a bit disappointed i had to do 4! It was very streaky the first 3 coats, i actually thought i was going to need to do more than 4 coats at the time of painting! Even though this polish is thick, it just wasn't building the colour up as quick as i wanted it too. The brush is nothing amazing and i actually made quite a mess with these when i don't usually :/

Dry time before able to apply topcoat:

Chic Chartreuse (what a name huh.. i don't know either..) dries to a rubbery/matte kind of finish. I don't quite understand why its called 'bleached' neon... My four coats took forever to dry and i knocked them several times so after about 20 minutes i got fed of up of waiting and applied my HK girl top coat.

Where to buy:

You can get this in Boots/Superdrug for £3.99 (3 for 2 and also buy 1 get the 2nd half price in both stores - i always think about my points when decided where to buy from.. favourite drugstore is Superdrug for me!)

maybelline bleached neons chit chartreuse green
4 coats in the sun

What do you think of this polish? Would you waste your time on four coats of polish for this colour?

I don't think i will be doing that again! If anything i'll be using this for nail art purposes from now on.

Thanks for reading and i hope someone finds this review helpful when deciding whether to purchase this or not. I suggest perhaps getting this polish as your 3rd one in the 3 for 2 or the one for half price in the buy 1 get 2nd half price deal!

Simple Summer Gradient + Simple nail art

Evening lovelies!

I know i said in my last blogpost i wanted to review one of the 'bleached neons' by maybelline... well i painted my nails with it and its definitely a polish i want to talk about but.. i had a bit of an incident with a spider and it ruined my nails LOL so i will be repainting them with it later tonight, so the review should be up tomorrow night!

After the incident with the spider i sat there and scraped all the polish off then went to sleep, the next day i decided to do something summery, which meant a gradient! Its similar to one i did last week but not the same so its ok ;)

summer gradient claires nails inc models own peach melba nail art simple lovely yellow pastel hot pink coral triangles aztec

Please excuse what looks like tip wear! My Fairy Dust has gone a bit gloopy and decided to shrink on top of my gradient :( i think the top coat has worn away a bit too and thats why it looks how it does! (Been wearing it for 3 days!)

What i used:

Nails Inc - Sugarloaf Sunset

Models Own - Peach Melba
Claires - Lovely
China Glaze - Fairy Dust
HK Girl top coat

(I think i used a more 'barbie' hot pink than last weeks gradient when i used Models Own - Hot Pink!)

I think we all know roughly how to do gradient nails by now, but if you don't i suggest googling it - theres plenty of videos on YouTube and they're much better than me telling you how to do it!

Anyway onto the nail art... i wanted something simple that didn't take over and cover the gradient like last week, so here is what i ended up doing.

summer gradient claires nails inc models own peach melba nail art simple lovely yellow pastel hot pink coral triangles aztec

I think the inspiration came from lots of aztec tops i've seen in shops. My Gradient isn't perfect.. probably because i was watching Enchanted whilst doing these :') oops.
I was debating whether to do palm trees on these as the gradient looks a bit sunset like, but i'm seeing that done sooooo many times i thought i'd do something else.

What i used:

Black Acrylic paint
JN Dance 24 Detailing Brush

I think what i did to achieve it is self explanatory :p

Thats pretty much it for this post! I have a lot to say about the bleached neon i've already used once so please come back tomorrow!

Thanks for reeeeeeading :)

Maybelline Acid Wash - Mint Acid-ittude

Evening m'dears!

Sorry i've not posted much this week - lost my mojo a bit after having to close Chubby Owl Polish! I seem to be doing more crocheting than anything else at the moment
! Trying to make lots of bunnies before the end of the month :)

Anyway on to todays post...

I'm really not sure about this polish - i picked it up last Friday when i was in town and i'm kind of regretting it now.. its not exactly mint.. but its not exactly light blue.. its more of a minty green turquoise.. am i making any sense?!

Heres three coats of it on my nails:

Maybelline Acid Wash Mint-Acidittude

Application/Consistency/Brush:

This is quite a thick polish, lots of glitter attaches itself to the brush which can be quite a pain. Needs a fair bit of manipulating and careful placement of the glitters. Also needs to be applied with a dabbing motion to prevent all the glitters ending at the end of the nail (or none staying on the nail at all!) It looks really lumpy before top coat, top coat improves the appearance of lumpiness a little but not majorly! A good thick top coat would be best for this polish. After top coat is applied the polish is quite smooth without any glitters sticking up waiting to prick you haha.

As for the effect, i think they're right calling it Acid Wash.. its obviously a crelly with all white glitters, some appearing minty green turquoise depending on where they're placed, so yeah, i think it does achieve an Acid Wash effect! (Also loving the name..!)

Dry time:

Mint Acid-ittude does dry quite quickly however it doesn't affect applying the polish, wait about three minutes between each coat and the last coat won't pull or anything. With HK girl my nails were dry in 10 minutes after applying the top coat 5 minutes after the last coat of polish.

Where to buy:

You can purchase this from Superdrug & Boots for £3.99 (Also doing buy 1 get the 2nd half price, or 3 for 2 at both stores..!)

Maybelline Acid Wash Mint-Acidittude

Do you like this?! Let me know what you think! I really don't know if i do...I just wish it didn't look as lumpy as it does! Maybe i'll try applying it again.. a bit better perhaps, i dunno!

Thank you for reading and i promise i'll try and do more nail art/just actually paint my nails this week! I have one of the bleached neons i want to show you soon too!!

Picture Polish - Shocked

Evening m'dears!

Last week i managed to grab a polish i was after for ages off of one of the selling groups on facebook! Its Picture Polish - Shocked (If you hadn't guessed already ;))

I kept seeing pictures of this polish on Instagram and its so gorgeous i literally just had to get it! If you can get your hands on it too, i suggest you do; its a stunner!

Here it is in all its glory:

Picture polish shocked nail lacquer australian indies australia
This is three coats (natural sunlight)

Heres a picture in the shade:

Heres a picture with the flash on:

Picture polish shocked nail lacquer australian indies australia

Application/Consistency/Brush:

I love the consistency of Picture Polishes! They're easy flowing, fuss free and easy to manipulate. I also adore their brushes, i didn't have to do any clean up on my nails because of the brush! I noticed that even though theres shimmer in the polish its very smooth and jelly like. I love how it looks in the shade, it looks completely different to how it does in natural sunlight.

Dry time before able to apply topcoat:

Continuing on from what i said above, it also dries to a smooth high shine finish, very quickly! I would say you don't really need to top coat this polish, so if you're in a rush its the perfect polish. But as most of us do like to top coat, go for it ;) it'll just make them extra extra shiney!!

Where to buy:

You can buy this polish from Rainbow Connection for £11.50 (its worth it!!)

I also won a facebook giveaway last week and received my prize today; 4 glitter covered wine glasses! They look lovely and are super sparkly so i thought i would use one of them as a bit of a prop :')

magic glitter wine glasses
Aren't they stunning?! I love them!

Picture polish shocked nail lacquer australian indies australia magic glitter wine glasses

I think these are perfect if you love having dinner parties (or just parties!) the glitter doesn't come off on your fingers either! And they're completely safe to drink from.
They're from Magic Glitter! (They currently have a deal on where you can buy 5 medium wine glasses for £15 with free delivery!)

If any of you follow me on Instagram/follow my Chubby Owl Polish page on facebook, you'll know that yesterday i made the decision to close. It wasn't easy for me to make that decision but, i'm glad i made it, its taken a huge weight off my shoulders. I will be crocheting bunnies and selling them from now on, i also plan to widen my crochet skills and the things i can make and sell those too. I also have something else up my sleeve involving glitter ;) i'll keep you all updated though!! :D

Thank you for reading!
